Hawk's last game

The Hawks ended their season with a win against a team with coaches who are poor sports- which makes for an even better win!  It was 97 degrees with a 1:00 game and the boys played hard despite the heat.  Hayden had an awesome hit that was about 6 inches short of clearing the fence.  He wanted to hit one over the fence so bad.

Hayden and Alex wanted to dump the ice water on coach Lonnie after the game.

Monarch's last game

This morning was Jack's final game of the summer season.  I love watching baseball but after two months of lots of games and practices and here lately 100 degree heat I am ready for the break.  Jack had a migraine last night and I had hoped he would wake up with it gone but it didn't work that way.  Poor guy felt terrible- barfing and the whole thing.  My nurse friend had told me to try Mountain Dew next time so we gave him a 20 oz Mountain Dew (doesn't that go against everything you tell your kids!)  He really wanted to play but just felt miserable.  We got to the fields and he told his coach he wanted to play so they started him at catcher so he would be in the shade and didn't even make him wear the helmet.  The caffiene started to kick in and by 2nd inning he was back at first base.  He had his best catch of the season.  He caught a fly ball while jumping for it and turning- he was so proud and so was I!

Jack's coach is my best friend's husband and he is amazing with the kids.  He has been coaching baseball for over 10 years and not only knows the game but also how to teach the kids.  We are super excited because next year he is putting together a team of boys from both of our boys teams so starting in fall the boys will be on the same baseball team- at least for now!  I am not resting up for Hayden's 1:00 game with highs over 100 degrees!

Zoo

This year we bought a zoo pass for the first time.  We decided it was money well spent as the kids all love to see the animals plus there is lots of walking which is great excercise for all of us!  The seal show is always one of my favorites, however this was my first time to see the polar bear.  That is now my favorite animal in the zoo!  He is huge and it was so neat to watch him swim.

cousins

Today we enjoyed a day with Grandpa & Grandma and Zach and Rylee.  They came down to watch Jackson play baseball and spend some time with us. They got here early so the kids could play before we headed out to the games.    The kids always love seeing their cousins and it seems like it has been an extra long time since we have seen them.

Afterwards we went to Cherry Berry and had some ice cream toppings before they left to head back to Abilene.

Thanks for coming to spend the day with us and watching baseball games.  The only thing that would have made it better is if all our cousins could have been here!  Grandpa & Grandma really should consider buying a passenger van so they could take all the grandkids on roadtrips:)

Field trip

I finally was picked to go on a field trip with Hayden's class.  We went to Powell Gardens for the day and had a great time.

And then we waited for the bus.  It was a long exhausting day

Who is this??

I didn't even recognize Kate when when I went to Kim's to pick her up.  It is crazy how different she looks.  I hope she grows up loving all those beautiful curls she has.  She has the best of both worlds, she can wear it curly or straight!  Although I know from experience, she won't see it that way.
