Summer List

I saw this idea and loved it.  The boys and I made our summer list tonight.  Everything we want to do this summer.  A couple of these won't happen (I'll let you guess which ones!) but we can all dream right?

Sun

Bright. Big. Yellow.
Is that the sun?

After what seems like a month of clouds and rain the sun has finally arrived, and boy are we enjoying it!  In celebration (and because I had a perks certificate to use) I got the kids all new sunglasses (love Children's Place sunglasses by the way- $2.50 a pair and really stinkin' cute and durable!)  Now lets see how long we can keep track of all three pairs!

Seriously- how cute are these!

Pre-Op

So we were up bright and early this morning to get to Children's Mercy for Katelyn's pre-op appointment. Katelyn was a trooper through it all.  Unfortunately at the last minute they decided they could not do her surgery because of her runny nose.  Too bad that could not have been decided BEFORE they attempted to take blood out of her head!
She had toys to play with, but after 3 hours those got boring and she decided the medical equipment was much more entertaining.

So we are now back to waiting- which by the way I am NOT good at!  We are supposed to call back in two weeks and give them a "snot update"  They will then decide at that time when if we are ready to reschedule the surgery.

In His Hands

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking

I never leave Your hands

Your hands

Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still

I heard this song on the radio this morning and truly felt God was speaking to me.  What an awesome promise- we are always in His hands! Regardless of what we are going through, God continues to hold us and lead us through it all.

Preschool Graduation

Another milestone.  Hayden graduated from preschool tonight.  This was a bittersweet night for me.  I cried.  I am not ready for kindergarten.  He is.  He is REALLY ready!  We had such a wonderful experience at Little Angels this year.  We look forward to being back here next year with Jackson.

Hayden and Mrs. Cornick- she is the best teacher, we were so blessed to have her teach Hayden this year

Two days

Only 2 more days until Katelyn's open heart surgery and I am struggling with trusting God with the whole situation.  This is very hard to admit, because I continue to try and give this to Him, but I keep taking it back, piece by piece.  I read this on a blog today and I have continued to ponder these words all day.

Why do we as parents try to hang on when we know that our children are much better off in the Lord's hands than in our own? Why do we have a hard time trusting when we know our Heavenly Father loves us deeply and passionately?

This mom has been through way more than I can ever imagine, and yet I felt as if she was talking to me when I read these words.  All of this is part of God's wonderful plan and I know He is in control.  We have felt so loved by all the prayers and words of encouragement we have received from friends and family.  We feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people who love and care about Katelyn.

Specific prayer requests now include Katelyn being healthy enough to pass pre-op on Wednesday (as I am sure my nerves cannot take postponing this surgery!) her surgeon Dr. O'Brien and all the staff involved in the surgery, the boys- that they would have such a great time visiting friends and family during this time that they won't even miss us (well maybe just a little!) and Jerry and I- that we would remain strong for Katelyn and for each other, knowing this strength does not come from ourselves but from God.

Royals Clinic

Hayden and Jackson attended the Royals Baseball clinic on Saturday. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and they had to cut it short because of the rain.  A Royals player coached each station and worked with the kids on batting, fielding, and pitching.  For Hayden, my little baseball fanatic, this only could have been better had Zach Grienke or Billy Butler been there!

The boys each came home with an autographed ball and glove

Big Wheel Day

The rain threatened to cancel Big Wheel Day today at Little Angels, but it stopped just in time.  The kids had so much fun. (although this pic definately doesn't show it!)
The kids could fill up their big wheel with gas
And they could wash their big wheels at the carwash

There was also face painting, which was Jack's favorite.  He was so excited about his Batman.

Tball

Hayden is playing Tball this year through ADP sports a Christian organization.  He is very passionate about baseball and is one of the more focused players on the team.  He is constantly asking Jerry and I to practice with him at home.  I don't know but I think we may have a baseball player on our hands.

Say Cheese

Ok, so we have family pictures in one week and Katelyn now has a new "pose"  Anytime she sees you taking her picture this is what she does!

This is NOT the look I want for family pics!  Tamalee is wonderful and I'm confident she will be able to get good pics regardless of the new cheesy smile!

Movie Night

The boys have a new favorite movie "The Rookie"  With Hayden's love for baseball this is no surprise.  Tonight they begged to watch the movie yet again.  I was downstairs for a while and they were upstairs watching the movie.  When I came up this is what I found.

First Day at the K

Jackson and Dad went to their first Royals game last week.  Jackson was very excited to go just like his brother has in the past.  When Hayden went to his first game, Jerry bought him a keepsake bat.  We had told Jackson he could get a bat like that when he went to his first game.  However, when they went to buy the bat something else caught his eye and there was no changing his mind.

And so now, instead of a nice keepsake bat that he will have to look back on in 25 years and remember his first Royals game, we now have a large foam finger!  And so that is how it goes.  Jackson is very stubborn and it can be very hard to change his mind.  Despite carrying around a large foam finger, they both had a great time at the game and Jackson is ready to go back.

Nine Years

Nine years ago I married my best friend.  I never imagined the journey God would take us on.  We have shared joys and sorrows together and through it all, we continue to grow more in our love for each other.  I cannot imagine life without Jerry.  Between three kids, work and the daily grind of life we don't feel we get near enough time together.  Although we have learned to make the most out of what time we are given.  Jerry makes me laugh when I am sad, he calms me down when I am mad and he is my strength and encouragement when I feel I can't go on.  With God at the center of our marriage, I know our love will only continue to grow.

I love you honey- thank you for all you do for me and our family.

Katelyn

I just can't get enough of these cheeks!

Planting

We spent Easter day with Grandpa & Grandma Sims.  The boys helped plant lettuce, peas and onions in their garden.

And while we were out there, the boys decided to have some fun on Grandpa's crutches too!

Easter Morning

The Easter bunny found the kids at Aunt Sarah's this year.  They were very excited to find several eggs filled with money in their baskets.

We then went to church with Sarah & Dusty and Dad.

A picture of all 3 together would have been nice on Easter morning, but it was not happening.  Sadly enough, this was as good as it got!  It is not an easy task to get all 3 kids looking good at one time!

Jackson's 4th Birthday

Due to Dad's broken leg, we cancelled Jack's family party scheduled the weekend of his birthday and postponed it until Easter weekend when we were in Abilene.  Jackson had a Batman party at Aunt Sarah's house.

Jackson got several Batman vehicles from Aunt Sarah and Aunt Annie to go with his Batcave.  He was also very excited about his Spiderman fishing pole from Grandma & Grandpa.
