Pretty Girl

She has grown up so much in the last couple months.  She loves to pretend play, her doll and kitchen are her favorites.  She got her first play jewelry and Rylee's birthday party and has been loving it.  Of course the hardest part is getting her brothers to leave it alone!

Fishing

Hayden got a new fishing pole for his birthday that he has been begging to use.  Yesterday Jerry and the boys practicing casting in the front yard and then Jerry promised them he would take them fishing.  Unfortunately we waited a little too long and the weather did not cooperate.  By the time we got there, it was misty and windy.  But that didn't stop them, they still fished for a while.  Kate and I watched from the van:)

Sadly, all we came home with were three very wet and muddy boys and three pairs of very muddy shoes!  Maybe next time they will catch a fish.

School Carnival

All this and more..............the kids had fun.  We were all able to enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

Jerry's Surgery

Thursday Jerry had his sinus' drilled out- I know this sounds pleasant, doesn't it?  I never expected this to be such a rough recovery for him.  He had planned on keeping the kids by himself on Friday (that didn't happen- I took an extra vacation day!)  He was down ALL weekend.  He still isn't feeling well, but at least his nose is not swollen up like a balloon.  His upper lip was swollen to about 4 times it's normal size.  He wouldn't allow any pics to be taken or else I'd share.  The poor man had to wear stints up his nose for 4 days!

So, the moral of this story is.........if you ever know someone who is going into have their sinus' drilled out.  Please treat them nicely.  Offer to help them out, because they will need it!  This is not a "minor" procedure as I referred to it (prior to Thursday)

The good news is, for the first time in 35 yrs he can breath out of his nose on the left side.  I am encouraged to know that all this pain he went through may be worth it in the end.

Rylee's Birthday

We made a quick trip to Abilene this weekend for Rylee's birthday.  She turned 3 and had a Princess party.  No princess party is complete without the crown!

(this is her scrunched up nose face she always give when she poses for a pic!)

There was a pinata that the boys turned into a frisbee once it was broken open.

Aunt Annie and the girls

We had a good weekend but it was a fast visit.  Hopefully next time we can stay longer.  The boys have so much fun with their cousins.

An average day

I don't think many people fully understand how much Jerry does as a stay at home Dad.  His schedule has gotten increasingly crazy since school started.  Jackson has preschool 3 days a week, Katelyn has speech once a week, Jackson has speech twice a week, Katelyn has PT once a week and she has special instruction every other week!  Here's an average day:

8:15- drop Jackson off at speech
8:30- drop Hayden off at school
8:45- pick Jackson up from speech
10:00- Katelyn's physical therapy for an hour
12:45- drop Jackson off to preschool
3:15- pick Jackson up from preschool
4:00- watch for Hayden to get off the bus

In between all this running, he grocery shops, runs errands, cleans house, and even squeezes in some HVAC work when possible.  He then leaves around 6pm to go to work and gets home around 1:00am.  Just for the alarm to go off at 6:30 again and the whole thing to start over!

I feel truly blessed to have such a hard working husband.  I know not every Dad would be able to do what he does.  After seeing the craziness of the schedule, I realize God had a plan all along.  There is no way our kids could get these services they need if we were both working and had to have them in daycare.  Even though I know he longs for the day he can go back to HVAC full time, he also realizes he has been given a gift that a lot of parents don't get- he is able to spend time with the kids when they are young.  Hopefully this is time they will not forget as the years pass.

Pre-K

Jackson started pre-school at Little Angels Learning Center today.  He was very excited after watching all the fun Hayden had here last year.  We are blessed to have Mrs. Cornick as his teacher as well.  She has already noticed how different our two boys are!  I am very excited for him and can't wait to share in all the fun activities with him like I did with Hayden last year.

Labor Day Weekend

We had beautiful weather all weekend, which meant lots of time spent outside.  Jerry worked most of the weekend, so the kids and I just spent time at home.

Kate enjoyed her first ride on the power wheels
Can you see the huge smile and tongue hanging out!  She LOVED it!

She also got to help Mom make cookies for the first time.

This is the grasshopper that consumed the boys- they were scared of it and did everything they could to make sure he died!  (they wanted me to take his picture:)

The boys were adamant about going swimming one last time this summer.  We waited until today thinking it would be the warmest day of the weekend.  Hayden jumped right in and tried to convince me it wasn't "that cold"  I made it to the 2nd stair and got out- it was freezing!  Jackson kept informing me he couldn't get in because "his wee wee was cold"  Hayden continued to swim for an hour- teeth chattering and all!

After an hour, they decided this was a much better way to enjoy the pool.

Cold or not- I'm glad Hayden was able to enjoy one last swim this summer.  I am so proud of how well he swims. He can now dive and pick up rings from the bottom of the 5 ft!  It is so much fun to watch him in the water.  Now if we can just get Jackson to enjoy it the same way- maybe next summer!
