70 degrees

Today was a beautiful day in January.  The temps reached 70 degrees here in KC so we took advantage of the nice weather and enjoyed some time at the park after school.

100 days

Today was the 100th day of school.  They have so much fun on this day.  Hayden's class even had shirts! (and now that I post this picture of him I realize he looks like a dweeb- but its the only one I took!)

We decided to celebrate the 100th day with ice cream after school.  The boys got oreo concretes with gummy worms! It's nice to spend some time with just my boys every now and then.

Rylee

I got this text from my sister last week.  "Rylee says this is how Missy and Jerry do it, they carry one and have the other one in their arms"

I love kids.  This text made me smile. She is right, when Peyton was in the infant seat I would often hold my infant seat on my arm and have Kate on my other hip.  Its amazing how heavy those girls are for being so little.  And who would have thought that anyone would notice, but Ry did.  The more I think about it I realize what a good reminder this is- kids are always watching!

Game night

Our schedule these last few months has been crazy.  We have something on the calendar almost every night of the week.  Mondays are our only free tonight.  Jerry ended up not working today due to the mild weather (this winter has been great for me, however not so great for my husband who works in heating!) But we took advantage of our night at home together as a family and enjoyed dessert and games.

Playoffs

Its that time of year again.  Our whole family loves football so the NFL playoffs  are a highlight at our house.  It is even more exciting when one of "our" teams is in.  Hayden became a Giants fan about 3 yrs ago and has stayed true to his team.  Jack is more of a Bears fan, but when you have a hand me down jersey that brother out grew you might as well wear it! Today they are playing for a trip to the superbowl and we are ready.  Of course the game doesn't start for another 4 hours but the boys wanted to have an inside picnic on their Giants blanket for lunch anyways!

Saturday

Today was a day with a whole lotta nothing.  Sometimes you just need those kind of days.  Of course now that it's 9:00pm I am wishing I would have gotten more done, but it will all be there tomorrow.  I did do a few loads of laundry and finished my trashy romance novel so it wasn't a total waste of a day!

Kate did lots of outfit changes today, however this was my favorite!

There was a lot of this today.  They don't get to play their DS' during the week so on cold weekends like this they make up for the lost time.

and there were lots of hats worn at our house today

Choices

Of course all my books on my hold list at the library came in at once!  I have Francine Rivers, Emily Giffin, Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah which has been highly recommended and of course Karen Kingsbury.  So now I have all these choices on what to read.  If only I could take a week off alone in a peaceful quiet place with only my books all would be well.  But since that won't be happening I guess I will start with Courageous because I want to read the book before seeing the movie and I really want to see the movie!

Love. Love. Love

I am in love.  The doorbell rang and I opened the door to see the Fedex man had dropped this on my step.

I knew what it was and I couldn't wait to open it.  Inside was my new Erin Condren planner.  I had seen them on some blogs and thought they looked awesome but wasn't going to pay that much.  Well lo and behold Plum District offered a deal for 50% off so I swiped it!  I am super excited that I did.  It doesn't get better than this- organization, bright happy colors, my beautiful kiddos faces, big spaces to write, pages for lists!  Amy Jones this planner is calling your name:)

Then as a bonus she included these awesome labels!

So are you drooling yet?  Do you want one?  I will never want just a normal planner again!  Go over to Erin Condren and check out all her other cool stuff.  I am signing off to go fill my planner with all my important dates!

Mommy's helper

I had to keep the girls home the other morning with me while I worked as my sitter had an appointment.  They did really well just watching me work and playing.  I went upstairs and came back down to my desk to see my little helper- with my glasses and all:)  I just love this girl!

Day off

I had the day off with my girls yesterday.  Kate had speech in the morning and then we decided to go visit one of our favorite people, Jessi.  I have known Jessi for over 7 yrs and she become one of my best friends.  She has such a genuine heart and has been there for me through many ups and downs.  She developed a special relationship with Kate early on as she kept her the first month I went back to work.  To this day, Kate loves Jessi and always runs to go give her hugs.  Jessi has 5 kids and her youngest is in kindergarten so she enjoys loving on my babies.  It is so nice to have people in your life who love your kids not because they have to but because they want to.  Jessi is such a great role model for both me and my girls.

We came home in time to enjoy a little bit of the 65 degree weather in January!  And once the boys got home, we had ice cream sundaes (which will always get a "You're the best mom ever!" comment in this house)

And then we skyped with our cousins (loving Skype!!!) We had a basketball game at 6:45.  45 min before we need to leave neither boy can find their uniform and I am feeding Peyton.  So I ask Hayden to take over feeding Peyton and I will look for their uniforms.  I tear the house apart to no avail.  I stopped and calmed down and prayed.  Good thing I did because right after that I hear a 'Mom' (you know the kind you know something is wrong you just are scared to go see???)  I walk out to see Peyton covered from head to toe in baby food mixed vegtables!  Apparently Hayden got tired of feeding her and walked off leaving the baby food on her tray:)  So I of course go to grab my camera to which Hayden replies, "Seriously, you are taking pictures at a time like this!"  (seriously is his new catch phrase!)

Good news is- uniforms were found.  Peyton got a bath and no longer smells like mixed veggies.  We were on time to the game.  And the boys remain undefeated!!!!  Bad news is- NOTHING got done at my house.  Oh well, there is always tomorrow.  At least for today, I put relationships first!
