Sign

So last night I put the boys to bed and then went downstairs to work on organizing my craft closet.  Apparently while I was downstairs, the boys made a sign for their door.  They then taped the sign to their door and shut the door.

I went to their room to find two sleeping boys together on the bottom bunk and a note that read "Dot cum un are room."  I am not sure what happened to provoke the sign, but my boys felt the need to show their independence.

PJ Day

Today was Martin Luther King day so the kids were out of school and I was off work.  What a better way to celebrate than with a pajama day!  We played games, played Wii, snuggled and crafted all in our jammies!  I did finally shower about 2:00 this afternoon and changed from old jammies into new ones:)  Now to think of having to get dressed again tomorrow for work- makes me sad.  If only my office believed in PJ day once a week!

Photoshop

I have had Photoshop for over a year now and still can't use many features on it.  I even have a large user's manual for reference and still seem to only use it for red eye and cropping.  However, this weekend I was on a mission to figure out how to make subway art on Photoshop.  For weeks, I have been seeing some really cool subway art on different blogs I follow.  I saw one the other day that I thought would be perfect for the newly decorated girls' room.  So after lots of trial and error and some reference to my manual- I was successful.  I printed it off today and am very happy!

So look out now because I can make subway art for every occasion!

Go Bears

Playoffs here and we are ready!  Our home town Chiefs lost last week so this week our focus turns to Jerry's 2nd favorite team, the Chicago Bears.  All the boys sported their Bears jerseys today.

Someone has had an attitude all day and decided he didn't like pictures!

Kate tried to convince him....................

Kate and I don't have any Bears gear- maybe next year.  For now, she will just sit and look cute while watching the game.

Snow Day

Today was a snow day at our house.  I called into work and took a vacation day so I wouldn't have to fight the traffic and school was cancelled.  Jerry took the boys sledding and they had a blast.  Kate and I went out for about five minutes and that was enough for us!

Big Girl

Today was full of organizing and rearranging.  We worked on both kids' rooms to try to make the most out of the space we have.  Part of our rearranging, included adding a second bed into Kate's room to make it "the girls' room"  We have been debating if we want to put her into the toddler bed or if we want to borrow a crib and continue to use a crib for a few more months.  We decided today to give the toddler bed a try.  If it doesn't work, we will go back to the crib.  She was very excited about her big girl bed.  She only got out of bed once tonight before she fell asleep.  Now let's see how the rest of the night goes!

She has been looking so grown up lately and this makes it even worse!  My baby girl is almost 2 and now she in a big girl bed.

Excitement

Yesterday I was able to feel the baby all hunched up in the top of my stomach and I could rub my belly and feel her back and bottom. Today she is back there again and I find myself continually rubbing my belly. I love to feel her move. I am getting so excited to meet Peyton Jean and hold her in my arms. I wonder what she will look like. Will she have lots of hair like all my kids have? Will she have curls like Kate? Will she have chubby cheeks that you just want to squeeze? The excitement is too much for me! In less than 12 weeks our family will be complete. I can’t wait!

In the meantime, I will fill my time getting Katelyn’s room ready to become “the girls’ room”.    I have to make room for all these girl clothes in a very small closet. I am trying to make very creative use of my space! I also have some projects in mind for the room with my Cricut- let’s see if I can actually get them done!

Peyton- Mommy loves you so much already. I am so ready to hold you and snuggle you (and of course put hairbows in your hair!) You are such a blessing to our family. God has truly blessed us by giving us another baby girl and by giving Kate a sister. My prayer is that you and Katelyn would grow up to be best of friends. I also pray that you will have a bond with your brothers that I never got to experience. You have the best older brothers a girl could ask for. Please know they love you so much.

The Week After

For a second straight year, our week after Christmas was not at all as we had planned.  I was on vacation all week and we had planned on lots of family time.  Instead all we got was the stomach flu!  Katelyn came down with it the day after Christmas when we were in Abilene, she didn't start feeling better until Thursday.  Hayden came down with it Monday night, me Tuesday morning, Jerry Wednesday morning and Jackson on New Years Eve!  This was not just a typical 24 hr bug- it was a nasty 2-3 day virus!  So basically all I got done this week besides cleaning up messes was trying to keep up with all the laundry!

Thursday it reached 62 degrees here and we forced ourselves out of the house for the first time all week.  We took the kids to the park and they had a blast.

Well it wasn't the week we had planned, but we will try again next year!   For now we need to get ready to start back to work tomorrow and back to school on Tuesday.

Sims Christmas

We headed for Abilene in the afternoon on Christmas Day.  We spent a quiet evening at Grandma & Grandpa's and then the following day celebrated Christmas with all our aunts, uncles and cousins. The kids loved spending so a whole day with their cousins.

In the afternoon, we opened gifts.  Grandpa & Grandma get lots of help with 9 grandkids.

The kids all got PillowPets and matching pj's.

The last two years, Dad has started making gifts for each grandkid.  It is a huge project for him, but what special keepsakes.  He made Katelyn a doll cradle and the boys each got a train.  The problem is, I don't want my kids (especially the boys) playing with theirs!  So Jerry laughs at me that they are the toys for decoration!

After all this Grandpa & Grandma wore worn out.

However, the boys were just getting started and Uncle Dusty just added to the chaos.
