Haircuts

The boys know what this means and they don't like it!  About a year ago, we discovered an easy way to save $52 every four weeks.  And even after a year, they continue to complain every time.  My famous last words "if you sit still this will be over quickly!"

So as you can see, this would be easy to procrasinate to avoid all the arguing!  However, hair growing over my boys' ears DRIVES ME CRAZY!  So tonight was the night.

He was actually very cooperative tonight- thank you Hayden!

This was just from the two boys- like I said, they were way overdue!

Summer Fun

Swimming.

Corn on the cob.

Feeding the elk.
(Jack was a little nervous to feed the elk!)

Painting.
Spending time with friends.
Sidewalk chalk.
Its sad to think the summer is half way over all ready.  We have had a lot of fun, but have lots more we want to do.  This summer seems to be going even more quickly knowing Hayden starts kindergarten in less than two months.

One step closer

Katelyn's open heart surgery was scheduled for Monday June 21st, the day after Father's Day.  We were the second surgery of the day, so we didn't have to be there until 9:00a.m.  We arrived at Children's Mercy around 8:30am after dropping the boys off at Tina's house for the day.  Dad, Tanya, Sarah, and Mario all met us at the hospital. We were taken back to the prep room for the nurses to check her out one last time.  And what do you know- she had developed a rash!  The nurses were not sure if Dr. O'Brien would allow surgery to continue, so we had to wait over 2 hrs waiting on him to get out of the operating room.  As soon as he saw the rash he said No.  My heart sank.  Not again.  Why.

We had gotten one step closer this time making it even more difficult to handle.  I understand they want her perfectly healthy and I do too, it's just such an emotional roller coaster.
So we are now back to waiting.  We are supposed to call as soon as the rash is gone and they will get us a 3rd surgery date.

Father's Day

We started our Father's Day apart as Kate and I stayed home from church so she would not be exposed to any additional germs for surgery the following day.  Jerry and the boys went to church.  Jackson came home excited to tell me the story of baby "Roses" (Moses)  After church, the boys helped Jerry put together his new smoker.

We had to take Kate to the hospital to have blood drawn.  Due to her problems giving blood in the past we wanted to make sure she was fully hydrated- she took this very seriously!
The boys also talked Jerry into swimming.  We had a good Father's Day although it was definately hard to enjoy the day being so consumed with Kate's surgery the following morning.
She is just so cute- I can't help taking her picture!

VBS

Last week was VBS at our church.  I volunteered with the pre-school kids. Krissy and I ended up the largest group of kids- we had 9 boys!  Pretty sure our group was the "naughty group"  The kids all had fun and we were exhausted by the end of the week, so overall it was a success.
These 5 were the most onery ones of our group! These boys are all such good buddies, I can't wait to see how these friendships grow in the years to come.

Dad

Happy Father's Day Jerry.
The kids are so lucky to have you and
so am I.
You are a hero in the eyes of the boys.
Kate is going to grow up and adore you.
Thank you for all you do for our family.
We love you!

Family Pictures

Doesn't Tamalee do a wonderful job?  We have used her twice for famiy pictures and both times I have been so excited with the results.  She is so much fun to work with and is wonderful with kids!  Check her out at http://www.momentintimedesign.com/

Shaving cream fight

$3 has not bought me this much entertainment in a long time! Three cans of shaving cream kept these two busy for 2 hours!

And if you add shaving cream to a slide it can make it twice as fun!
Shaving cream fight. Check. Although I have a feeling this is one activity of the summer list that we will be doing more than once!

Blue Sharks

Hayden had his last game of the season last Saturday.  The Blue Sharks made huge improvements this season.  Grandpa and Grandma Sims were able to come watch him play so he was super excited.  He had an excellent game.  He is now ready for next season to play machine pitch.  I forsee lots of summer days spent on bleachers watching this little athlete in my future.

Summer Fun

Waterguns. Check.
Nothing is better on a hot day than a good watergun fight.  I fixed the boys up with a large tub of water and let them go at it.

And it's time for a refill
This was right before I got soaked!

Kate enjoyed watching the boys and ended up in the line of fire several times.
